Naval Live Oaks Horse Trails
|
Horses may be ridden on the trails and fire roads of the Naval Live Oaks area, part of the Gulf Islands National
Seashore, in Gulf Breeze on the north of U.S. Highway 98 only. The drive-through parking lot is in the middle of the park,
at the sign that says "NLO Compound". The gate to NLO is locked at sunset. Be out in time, or you will be locked in for
the night. Gates are unlocked around 7 am. Maps are available at the visitor's center on the south side of Hwy 98.
Horses are not allowed in the group camping area or on the beach. The trail footing consists of beach-type sand. Trails
are wide and clear and surrounded by beautiful plant life including live oaks and pines. Small fences line the trails by the
roads to contain the gopher tortoises. Trail are used by joggers, dog-walkers, and hikers, so please use utmost courtesy
and manners. Inexperience riders and horses need to take extreme caution, as if a horse gets loose, you are right beside
Hwy 98, which is a very busy highway.

Live Oaks, contact Dove Bogan at (850)
